Air Quality Statement- Merton

All new residential proposals within the London Borough of Merton are required to submit an Air Quality Statement with the planning application.

Merton’s air quality assessment requirements align with those of the entire city of London, necessitating that all developments demonstrate compliance with Air Quality Neutral standards. Importantly, Merton is known to reject planning applications more frequently if they lack a comprehensive Air Quality Statement.

Merton has designated the enitre borough as an Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) due to elevated levels of pollutants. Developments within this AQMA must meet stricter air quality assessment criteria to ensure they do not exacerbate existing pollution levels.

In addition to Air Quality Statements, developments in Merton may also need to conduct dust assessments in accordance with Greater London Authority (GLA) guidance. These assessments help to manage and mitigate dust emissions during construction, ensuring compliance with local air quality standards and regulation.

Greenavon specializes in producing tailored Air Quality Statements and Air Quality Assessments for the London Borough of Merton. Our proactive approach includes engaging with relevant officers to discuss the project in detail before planning submission. This collaboration aims to align the project with Merton’s expectations, increasing the likelihood of securing planning permission and minimizing the potential need for additional work dictated by planning conditions.
