The London Borough of Camden (LBC) has some of the most stringent air quality planning requirements in the UK. The entire borough has been declared an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA), and most of the borough is in exceedance of the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) air quality guidelines for PM_2.5.  As part of LBC’s Air Quality Action Plan, Camden Council became the first local authority in the UK to adopt the World Health Organization (WHO) guideline limits for air pollution.

Furthermore, the LBC requires Construction Management Plans (CMP) for most development in the borough and has supplied a pro-forma to ensure that all aspects of construction management are considered. This document provides a framework to help developers minimise construction impacts, including dust impacts. Development in Camden are required to provide an air quality dust risk assessment, and dust management plans to support CMPs, and to ensure that dust emissions do not adversely impact the health and wellbeing of locals.
